Aker Solutions' Fabrication facility based in Aberdeen is responsible for delivering top sides and subsea piping and structural fabrications. We need experienced individuals who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the oil and gas market.

We are currently seeking a Welding Inspector QC to be based at our Fabrication facilities in Dyce.

The Welding Inspector QC is responsible for monitoring and overseeing all Welding activities including Welder qualification.

  • To ensure all welding procedures are strictly adhered to

  • Liaises with Welding engineer as and when required and be directly involved in the development of WPQR’s and WPS’s

  • Co-ordinates all welding and NDT activities within the facility and acts as welding focal point within the facility

  • Issue and conduct root cause analysis of Notification Of Inspections (NOI’s) where required

  • Ensure the highest quality of workmanship conducting documentation spot checks as required

  • Manage resources (welding equipment and welding consumables)

  • Attend required construction planning and kick off project meetings

  • Lead and coordinate welding quality reviews

  • Promoting a culture of quality and compliance, ensuring procedure awareness, availability and compliance

  • The timely reporting of issues relating to noncompliance to procedure or process

  • Apprenticeship or Level 2 NVQ equivalent in a relevant trade discipline

  • CSWIP 3.1 Level 2 Welding Inspector Certification Essential

  • CSWIP 3.2 Level 3 Welding Inspector Certification Highly Beneficial

  • ONC in an engineering discipline or City and Guilds in a related trade or an NVQ Level 3 in a related trade

  • Possess extensive trade and industry knowledge, can demonstrate a high standard in execution and completion of tasks

  • Extensive experience within fabrication and construction

  • Experience at Foreman level or equivalent

  • Can demonstrate a clear understanding of recognised industry standards such as ASME, AWS, ISO and EN
