Please see the Essential Qualifications and Experience as followed:

  • Hold a current full and clean driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
  • Experience of multi-drop deliveries
  • Possess a full current unrestricted driving licence, i.e. out of R plates, for use in UK with category B driving entitlement
  • Successfully complete Trust Driving Test. Transport will administer driving test for successful candidate in a suitable Trust vehicle

Van Driver

Duration of role: This is expected to be for 3 months maybe longer

Working days and hours: Monday to Friday working 7.5 hours between 8.15am to 4.15pm each day

Pay rate: £10.32 Paye including Holiday

Vehicle: This will be provided by our client

Insurance: This will be under our client’s insurance

Duties will include:

  • Transfer of Pharmacy items between Hospitals and Community Facilities
  • Transfer of sterile hospital equipment (HSDU) between Hospitals and Community Facilities
  • The Delivery and Collection of internal/external mail between Hospitals and Community Facilities
  • Removal of office furniture/equipment Trustwide.
  • Transfer of office furniture/equipment between units Trustwide.
  • Provide relief cover for passenger carrying vehicles (if holding appropriate licence)
  • Drive any vehicle allocated within the limits of your driving licence, in a careful, lawful manner with special regard for the goods being carried
  • Schedule deliveries to ensure the most efficient use of resources
  • Ensure goods are secure during transit and delivery
  • Ensure deliveries are timely and that the focus of your work is on the customer and the delivery of a high quality service
  • Carry out other goods delivery work as directed
  • Carry out daily routine maintenance of vehicles driven and minor running repairs (i.e fuel/oil/water checking and topping up, tyre pressure/condition, vehicle cleaning.)
  • Operate tail lifts, where provided after instruction on use.
  • Follow the Trusts operational systems and procedure i.e. health and safety at work.
  • Complete records relating to any delivery/collection as required by the Trust.
  • Complete any records in relation to the performance/usage of the vehicle per journey e.g. miles travelled, petrol used, oil replaced, patient/clients carried, loading etc. The information required would vary with the type of vehicle and will be subject to change in the light of development. Daily completion and monthly return of vehicle log sheets.
  • Report all vehicle defects or faults as they arise using the appropriate documentation.
  • Report all vehicle defects of the Transport Department immediately
  • Portering responsibilities will be those associated with the needs of the Service and include the loading and unloading of vehicles. This may also include the movement of products within building.
