Job Description

Immediate Start 

Applications are invited for the post of fixed term Trust Doctor in Neonatology at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. 

This is an exciting opportunity to work within Child Health services in arguably the best place live in the United Kingdom. 

The post holder will work on the Level 2 Neonatal Unit. They will share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of patients on the Neonatal Unit. You will develop key skills in Neonatology which will support further training within Paediatrics. 

We require an enthusiastic candidate who wishes to contribute to the effective delivery of our busy department on a fixed term basis. 

Cornwall has an excellent reputation for education, with a welcoming and innovative Department of Postgraduate Education incorporating clinical skills training, resuscitation training, multidisciplinary learning, quality improvement and an award winning simulation team. We work closely with the University of Exeter, whose clinical medical students are based at RCHT. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • An interest in Paediatrics
  • Evidence of achievement of MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration

The Royal Cornwall Hospital is located 15 minutes from the nearest beach, making it easy to enjoy the sun and sea while working in a fantastic department.  Cornwall is a beautiful county which offers an outstanding quality of life and providing many opportunities for outdoor activities, with its sailing waters, surfing beaches and rugged coastal pathways for walking, and cycling.  There is a thriving arts and theatre scene as well as an interesting variety of eating places, including celebrity-owned restaurants within Cornwall.  The major route both in and out of the county is the A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter.  There is an excellent rail service with daily passenger and sleeper services and an airport at Newquay with daily connections to many cities throughout the UK and abroad.
