Job Description

Job Description The Technician Support Service provides technical support to Educational Services schools and other education establishments. The vacancy is in our high school science departments and we are seeking to employ a fully qualified science technician to join with our current technician team in supporting delivery of the science curriculum. You must be fully qualified in a science area of expertise and have gained work experience as a science technician in an educational establishment or other relevant working environment. You will have knowledge of science health and safety procedures including an understanding of COSHH regulations. You will be an enthusiastic and self motivated individual with an ability to work both as a team player and on your own as each occasion requires. You will provide a high level quality service in support of school(s) teaching and learning processes and fully understand and apply the key purpose and key account-abilities of the post in the course of your daily duties.Requirements This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.Responsibilities The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.
