Job Description

Meet Brandon Trust at our Support Worker Recruitment Events. We'll be at Worle Leisure Centre (11am-3pm, Monday 18 September), Winter Gardens Job Fair, Weston (10.30am-2.30pm, Wednesday 27 September) and Clevedon Baptist Church (1pm-3pm, Thursday 28 September). Visit our main website  for details.

Brandon Trust is a charity supporting people with learning disabilities and autism to live more freely with fewer limitations. Being a Support Worker here is rewarding, as enabling individuals to achieve their goals brings a sense of fulfilment as well as an opportunity to develop your career.

In this role you’ll join a well-established and encouraging team in supporting two people whom have varying needs and who live in separate flats in the same bungalow near Ashcombe Park. It’s an inspiring role and a chance to make a positive impact on people’s lives. We provide a range of flexible benefits as well as full training (including the nationally recognised Care Certificate) and support to help you develop your career.

The individuals enjoy a wide range of activities. One individual is a wheelchair user and is supported 2:1, he is also deaf and uses Makaton. Both individuals can present with behaviours that challenge. Full training will be given to support you in these aspects of the role.

Your day will involve supporting the individuals with everyday tasks, for example cooking, cleaning their homes and managing finances. You'll also support them with their personal care and medication needs. Find out more about these aspects of the role through videos on our  main website.

You’ll also support the individuals to access their community to do the things they enjoy, for example shopping, socialising, days out, visiting day centres, or accessing education, sporting and job opportunities. You’ll build professional relationships based on trust, respect and understanding. It can at times be a challenging role, but knowing you’ve helped someone achieve their goals is inspiring and rewarding. View our video for an insight into a day in the life of a Support Worker at Brandon:

You’re considerate, committed and respect people’s differences. Empathetic, you adapt your approach to individuals’ needs, have good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. You come up with creative solutions to overcome challenges and have a ‘can-do’ attitude. You’ll need to be flexible and able to work shifts including weekends and evenings/nights, as the role includes a 24/7 rota. It’s also essential that you have a full driving licence so you can drive the individual's mobility vehicles.

Training and benefits

If you’re new to social care we provide full training (including the nationally recognised Care Certificate, as well as training tailored to the needs of the people you support), a thorough induction and plenty of career development opportunities; we will also support you to gain your Health and Social Care Diploma. And with mentors to support you, you’ll have everything you need to feel confident in your role and to develop a career to be proud of. Find out more about our career pathways on our main website.

Our ‘Choices’ employment contract provides flexible benefits; you can personalise your holiday allowance and pension each year. We also offer a range of additional benefits such as childcare vouchers, a cycle to work scheme and study bursaries.

Successful applicants for this role will require an enhanced DBS check. We are an Equal Opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all sections of the community.
