Full Stack JavaScript Developer

Based in Fareham, PO16 8UT

 

Proagrica is looking for a full stack JavaScript Developer with a strong background in Software Engineering to join its expanding Data & Analytics group. This represents an exciting opportunity to join Proagrica and implement and utilise a range of open source technologies.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to work within the data visualisation team and create rich web applications using off-the-shelf charting libraries such as Highcharts. Our Tech Stack includes React, Redux, SemanticUI, Node.js, ElasticSearch and MongoDB; experience with any of the above technologies would be ideal, however strong JavaScript experience is essential for the role.

 

The majority of the work requires writing full stack code, involving queries for data retrieval, implementation of API Endpoints in Node.js and visualisation of data using React and various visualisation libraries. 

 

Given the profile of the role, prior exposure to Data Products is desirable, but not essential.

 

The Data Engineer role is based in the Fareham office and will report to a Senior Developer. Travel to other Proagrica offices (mainly Sutton) will be essential.

 

 

Skills & Experience

 

Essential:

  • Strong experience with JavaScript
  • Experience with React or similar frameworks (e.g. Angular).
  • Good understanding of programming paradigms like OOPS, functional programming, SOLID principles etc.
  • Experience with web applications, REST etc.
  • Experience of working with search engines such as ElasticSearch.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Agile Development (Scrum)
  • A real interest and passion for software development and high quality code

 

Desirable:

  • Experience with Node.js
  • Experience with other programming languages like C#, java, python etc.
  • Experience with TypeScript
  • Design skills using CSS, LESS etc.
  • Experience with document databases.
