Job Description

(potential for the award of a market supplement)

Fixed term 1 year initially.

Building on our location as the best connected borough in the UK, Doncaster is transforming itself as a place, council and partnership through our Team Doncaster approach. We have excellent relationships with partners, ambitious plans for regeneration and renewal, and working closely with Doncaster’s Children’s Services Trust we have recently received a ‘Good’ Ofsted report - evidencing a remarkable turnaround after many years of underperformance.  This is testament to the hard work of partners as well as the leadership of senior leaders and politicians.  But that’s not the end of the journey; moving forward, our ambition is to be the most child friendly borough in the country.

Our Senior Educational Psychologist (SEMH) will take a leading role in growing and embedding our support for partners and providers in their work to promote the social, emotional and mental health of all children and young people in the Borough. You will be part of a directorate and service management team who are outcome focused and making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.  This is an influential role, embedded within the school improvement and inclusion strategies, and focused on growing the service offer to schools and provider settings, responding to a growing demand for our high quality psychological advice and support.  You will engage with schools, settings, health partners and the Children’s Services Trust and lead on strategic promotion of mental health and support for improved outcomes for children and young people in Doncaster.

This role will play a critical and proactive role in the development of key agendas including the Doncaster Growing Together and the Social Mobility Opportunity Area programmes.  So, if you want a role that is challenging and where you are empowered to drive forward change and opportunities for young people, and if you have the determination and expertise to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people in Doncaster, we want to hear from you.
