The Tax Southern team is a market team of over 400 people, delivering high quality Tax and Legal services to a large and complex client base with a diverse workforce, covering a significant number of distinct skills groups, across our offices in the South (Reading, Southampton, Watford, Uxbridge, Gatwick and Cambridge) and London (Embankment Place).

We’re recruiting for a Resource Manager to join our Tax Southern team based in either London or Reading.

About the role

The Tax Southern Resource Manager will be responsible for managing the people teams within their business area to ensure staff are being utilised in an way that helps individuals meet their career goals whilst ensuring our teams are able to deliver client work to a high standard.

As a Resource Manager within our team you’ll have the ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders whilst dealing with complex issues and changing situations.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage your allocated portfolio by optimising headcount and productivity, managing and overseeing joiners, leavers and secondments, increasing utilisation and delivering resourcing services that support and improve employee engagement

  • Delivering the workforce, resourcing and people strategies by having a deep understanding of your teams, market growth plans and headcount required to support these; balancing these with the needs of the individual

  • Conducting regular portfolio reviews to ensure maximum utilisation, development and fair allocation of work for each individual

  • Interpret and analyse Management Information (MI) to provide insight, make connections and spot opportunities to improve profitability and engagement

  • Share knowledge, best practice and network with your colleagues across the business and Resource Management Function

  • Support the Senior Resource Manager and Tax Resourcing Team Leader with Fair Work Access and delivering the people strategy for your Market Team and Tax overall

  • Engage and promote the use of technology in Resource Management, spotting opportunities to launch new products and embed the use of current ones

  • Champion and drive change within Tax RM and the broader LoS through the delivery of change projects and supporting the roll out of new technologies

Essential skills and experience
  • Deployment and Workforce Planning experience

  • Strong relationship building skills with staff and stakeholders, becoming a trusted advisor to both groups

  • Ability to think creatively when resourcing projects and provide innovative solutions to complex problems

  • Comfortable handling complex data and new technology to support resourcing decision making

  • Confident change agent - experience in proactively managing and delivering change and projects in a fast paced environment

  • Active approach to team and personal development, seeking opportunities for further development for self and others and comfortable coaching and developing junior staff
