Job Description

Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Trust
Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Trust, Luton
£24,214 - £30,112 pa

The Luton & Dunstable University Hospital is a highly rated, diverse and forward thinking place to work. We are a Foundation Trust serving a multi-cultural population of over 350,000 across Bedfordshire and North Hertfordshire.

The Trust Boards of Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital are working towards becoming a single new NHS Foundation Trust with effect from 1st April 2020. This will bring many benefits for patients and opportunities for staff. Bothhospitals will retain their identity with individual hospital names and key services will remain on both sites and be managed as single teams across the whole Bedfordshire catchment area. Further information is available via the Trust's website.

Through tremendous commitment and hard work, our Paediatrics, Emergency Care Services and Outpatient Services achieved “Outstanding” in our 2016 Care Quality Commission inspection. Similarly we had an overall rating of “Good” across the rest of the hospital. We were praised as compassionate, empathetic and exhibiting patient outcomes above the average when compared with other acute Trusts.

We are a regional centre of excellence for several key specialties including, Obesity Research, Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Cancer Services. We are a tertiary level NICU provider and one of the largest centres for breast screening in the country.

The hospital continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.

With the best performing Accident and Emergency department in the country, the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS Trust (L&D) is a highly achieving hospital. We are ‘proud to care’ but we require more nurses to help us keep it that way.

Currently the Trust has a number of exciting opportunities for acute registered nurses (bank and permanent), both experienced and newly qualified, across the Trust. You may also be a nurse returning after a career break. Specifically we have opportunities across medicine, gastro, surgery, HDU/ITU, and our respiratory wards.

In exchange for your commitment to help us provide the best care we can, we can offer you the following:

  • Access to university courses
  • A variety of onsite training, both clinical and non-clinical
  • Regular appraisals
  • Assistance with revalidation
  • Staff benefits include:
  • Onsite dedicated staff parking
  • Access to childcare
  • Subsidised gym memberships
  • Flexible working options
  • 10 mins drive to Luton Airport and nearest train station

The L&D is a fun and forward thinking Trust. We are looking for acute nurses who might be qualifying this year or maybe an acute registered nurse who wants to return after a career break.

If you would like to help us continue to be ‘proud to care’ please apply on line. If you are shortlisted you will be invited to assessment and interview. Please see sample assessment exercise attached so that you can prepare.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
