Covering the area of South England, as the Regional Operations Manager you will be providing professional, proactive and innovative operational direction, to support the business in delivering efficiently and effectively its commitments to our clients, ensuring we provide a facilities management service complete to a high standard within the agreed budget and service levels.

This role will oversee the service delivery of soft services (Cleaning, Security, Catering etc.), providing leadership to teams offering professional guidance and direction, developing effective communication strategies. You will be ensuring the profitable, efficient and safe operation of all allocated contracts within the South Area, providing a quality service delivery to all customers in accordance with legislative requirements and company procedures while ensuring effective and adequate financial forecasting, budgeting and analysis of direct cost and overhead. 

You will be leading and managing a team of Operations Managers, Site Managers and Supervisors, with full responsibility of our client SLAs, along with the success and safe running of the contracts, to ensure that the team is always operating in a safe environment for themselves, OCS colleagues, our client, members of the public and supply partners.

This is a temporary role, initially for 3 months but with a review for extension or potentially conversion to a permanent position.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the delivery of all services in your specific area to provide consistently high levels of performance that meet contractual obligations to customers and the strategic objectives of the Division
  • Having full Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability for your area of operation and ensure that it is managed within budget, ensuring that maximum revenue and gross margin are achieved
  • Developing plans for the profitable growth of your area, defining key goals and timelines for the development of the area
  • Communicating clearly and positively with staff at all levels in your area to create a focus on business goals and build an environment where all staff are valued for their contribution
  • Building a network of close partnerships with customers in the Area, developing strong account management and encouraging multi-level relationships between all services, teams and customer teams
  • Liaising with other Managers to ensure high levels of staff motivation and productivity, increasing staff retention
  • Supporting the sales function where required in preparing commercial tenders and in delivering sales presentations relevant to developing the business in the area
  • Taking ownership of retaining sold properties within the area
  • Participating fully in any relevant external bodies and all opportunities for networking that raise the profile of OCS
  • Liaising with OCS internal and external statutory bodies to ensure compliance with OCS and industry regulations with particular emphasis on ISO quality systems and health & safety
  • Recruiting, developing and if necessary, managing the performance of all onsite operational management to deliver OCS and customer requirements within the area
  • Motivating managers and staff throughout the area to deliver high quality service to customers
  • Managing subcontractors and monitoring performance against SLA’s and KPI’s
  • Ensuring all overdue invoices and bad debt are dealt with and cleared within 90 days

Experience required:

Education/Qualifications

  • Hold appropriate Health and Safety qualification e.g.  IOSH or NEBOSH Certification
  • Achieved a minimum of BIFM Award, but ideally Certificate of qualification

Working experience/Personal attributes

  • Senior management experience in multi-site, facilities service role managing varied national and local contracts with a total turnover of at least £4m p.a.
  • Knowledge of all soft services and experience in delivery
  • Proven track record of delivering on target P&L, retention and growth performance
  • Evidence of “hands-on” operational experience and a track record of successful client relationship management
  • Proven record of managing, motivating, developing and retaining a dispersed workforce through others
  • Evidence of having grown the businesses for which P&L accountability is claimed above
  • Must be self-motivated and results orientated with effective inter – personal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload and delegate effectively to direct reports
  • Promote and actively demonstrate a flexible and ‘can do’ attitude delivering outputs that meet deadlines and targets
  • Ability to mentor and develop subordinates, counselling and coaching as necessary
