Project Curator, EMKP
Africa, Oceania and the Americas
Full-Time
Fixed-Term (10 Months)
£25,918 per annum

The British Museum is seeking a Project Curator, EMKP to join the Endangered Material Knowledge Programme (EMKP) in the Department of Africa, Oceania and the Americas. EMKP is a global granting programme that supports the documentation of material practices (crafts, architecture, performance etc) for inclusion in an open access digital repository (for more information, please see www.emkp.org). The main purpose of this role is to assist in digital repository maintenance and content upload, including grantee asset checking and ingest; to disseminate project results through digital media (website, social media, digital exhibitions & curated blogs); and support planning and organisation of EMKP events, including training and meetings.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

•Assisting C3C Project Curator in managing data ingest to EMKP repository (supporting grantees during asset preparation, checking metadata, formatting compliance).
•To support prospective/successful grantees in delivery of documentation projects (advising during application process, maintaining records, responding to queries post-award).
•To assist in dissemination of EMKP and funded projects through public digital platforms including maintenance of website, social media etc.
•Developing curatorial content for digital platforms including blogs, curated content based on project/thematic assets.
•To help delivery of grant related events, specifically training, review meetings and workshops, and manage logistical requirements including budget and travel planning.
•To support grantees in accessing Museum assets relevant to their research and integrating results into Museum records (e.g. MI+).
•To assist with the day to day running of the EMKP programme.
•To report regularly to Head EMKP on progress.
•Other duties as assigned.

Person Specification:

•Educated to undergraduate degree level in anthropology/ archaeology or other relevant degree and/or qualifications in information management.
•Familiarity with digital asset management and public dissemination.
•Experience of working in a museum/ events co-ordination/ digital and some knowledge of management issues (people, projects, budgets).
•An open, effective communicator, both verbally and written, who is able to work as part of a team or independently.
