An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Pharmacist to lead our friendly and supportive Medicines Information (MI) team within the Pharmacy Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). ARI is the largest hospital in NHS Grampian and in the North of Scotland, located on the Foresterhill site in Aberdeen. ARI is a teaching hospital with around 900 inpatient beds, offering tertiary care for a population of over 600,000 across the North of Scotland.

The Grampian Medicines Information Centre is one of 4 Scottish Regional Centres which deals with over 2000 complex medicine related enquiries every year. You will be responsible for delivering a high quality, specialist service to healthcare professionals, managers and patients within NHS Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. You will lead and develop guidance and policy documents, service improvement projects, audit and research within Medicines Information locally, regionally and nationally.

As the lead pharmacist for the centre, you will also be invited to sit on the UKMi Executive, the steering group which co-ordinates the UK-wide service. You will also become a member of the Grampian Joint formulary committee. In addition you will be part of the pharmacy leadership team and will be required to input into strategic and organisational planning for the acute pharmacy service.

You will be responsible for the training, appraising and supervising of staff working in the centre as well as supporting the development of our junior rotational staff, pharmacy undergraduates and postgraduates in all aspects of Medicines Information.

You will be an experienced pharmacist with excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills and the desire to provide a high quality, safe, effective and efficient service.
