It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care. These roles are available at HMP Stafford. HMP Stafford is a category C training prison for adult males holding up to 741 prisoners. In addition the prison holds a number of vulnerable prisoners (mainly sex offenders). The role will be an experience like no other requiring diverse and mixed nursing skills and background. One minute you could be delivering a chronic disease clinic and the next you are attending an emergency response.
This is an exciting new role for HMP Stafford which will develop throughout time. Your role will be split between a general nurses responsibilities and holding competent non-medical prescribing clinics. You will work closely with the GP’s and pharmacy team to ensure safe and adequate prescribing. Leading on chronic disease management and ensuring a safe nurse lead team. Working as part of a team of RGN Nurses within HMP Stafford Integrated Healthcare Services, you’ll provide clinical leadership and management to Registered nurses and health care assistants. Establishing inter-agency working where necessary to ensure good communication increases quality of care for patients. Ensure that own clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role.
• Based on the Wellbeing Approach, provide nursing triage and screening assessment. • Health advice • Nurse lead treatment prescribing medicines within own scope of practice • Medicines management audits and oversight. • Referral to another health professional or service as required. • Set standards for care by implementing protocols and establishing health education activities. • Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, planning and treatment of patients. • Manage and provide clinical supervision to the team • Reduce the need of GP time by signposting patients to the relevant parties, for example, telemedicine, registered nurses and other in reach services.
• Registered Nurse (Currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council) • BSc or equivalent qualification • Non-medical prescribing
This is a permanent, full time role working 37.5 hours per week working Monday - Friday 8.30 -16.30 The salary is up to £45,000, depending on experience.
