Fixed term for 3 years – Full time 37.5hrs/wk
Band 6 (may appoint at Band 5 via Annex T)

We are looking to recruit a nurse to an exciting and challenging research post that will be based within the Anchor Unit at ARI. The post will allow you to develop the research nurse skills required to deliver exceptional clinical and research care to patients involved in clinical research studies. You will be part of a well established team of research nurses and data managers.
You will assist in the delivery of direct and indirect care of those participating in research, which includes trial set up processes, recruitment and monitoring of study patients and collection of accurate, confidential data and liaising with national trial centres and data monitors. The main duties/responsibilities of the post will be in a variety of clinical research studies primarily in the haematology department under the direction of Consultant Haematologists with input and guidance/training from the haematology research team, Senior Oncology Research Nurse and the Lead Research Nurse. This post includes an educational role for educating staff, patients and relatives about the benefits of taking part in clinical research to increase understanding about clinical trials and what is involved in taking part in clinical trials. This role would also offer support to the service teams on the wards and in the clinics to assist with some clinical tasks for the trials such as oral trial drug administration and distribution.
This post will provide an opportunity for a nurse with research and/ or oncology/haematology experience and excellent communication skills, who has a flexible approach, is keen to learn and able to manage a caseload of patients, and who will work to the high standard required in research.
Consideration will be given to nurses with little or no research experience but who have a genuine interest in moving to into clinical research. In this situation, the nurse will be required to work through a pre-determined development programme and KSF outline enabling progression to the Band 6 foundation requirement for the post after at least 12 months at Band 5.

Interested applicants are recommended to contact Sue Rodwell – Senior Research Nurse on 01224 553830.
