Job Description

CHILD BRANCH STUDENTS ONLY

Are you a Child Branch Student Nurse who has recently qualified or due to qualify by March 2020? If the answer is yes we want you to join our excellent 18 month Paediatric Rotation Programme

The Paediatric Rotation Programme provides newly qualified nurses with the opportunity to experience different nursing specialties, teams and environments to gain greater understanding of the nurse you are and the future you want whilst providing you with a tool kit of core and specialised skills to kick start your career. You will rotate around 3 different clinical areas over an 18 month period which may include:-

  • Adolescent medicine/surgery/rehabilitation
  • Acute Paediatric Admissions
  • Paediatric and Adolescent Daycare
  • Paediatric Oncology
  • Teenage Cancer Trust Unit
  • Paediatric Emergency Department

You will have a comprehensive induction to the programme, and be supported by a Nurse Educator in each clinical area as well as a named Preceptor. Three monthly development reviews and regular study days mean you stay on track with your learning throughout the rotation and get lots of support to help you achieve your full potential. After the rotation you will be guaranteed a post within the Paediatric Division. Our latest CQC report for Paediatric Services was very positive about the care children and young people received with a rating of “Good” across the board in 2018 including the education and support our staff receive. We also have the largest adolescent unit in the UK, an award winning diabetes team and our Staff Surveys consistently indicates our Staff would recommend UCLH as a place of work (95%) and as healthcare provider (98%). Our Trust also has the 4th lowest morbidity and mortality rating in the UK. 2019 UCLH has continued to achieve excellent results in the National Inpatient Survey, with patients rating their overall care as 8.4 out of 10 – the second top score among our London peers!

To apply please ensure your supporting statements clearly meets the application elements of the Person Specification criteria attached.

Please note that interviews will be conducted in the week beginning 10th February 2020.
