Marketing Editor

Full time

Maternity cover – 12 months fixed term

£29,958 per annum

The British Museum is the UK’s leading visitor attraction with an incredible collection spanning two million years of human history. The Museum is offering an exciting new opportunity for a Marketing Editor to join its Press and Marketing team. The role will be responsible for writing, editing and proofing marketing copy to promote the Museum’s diverse offer to the public.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of copywriting, proofing and editing within a marketing environment. Candidates should have excellent attention to detail and consistency, a creative approach, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage a diverse workload.

Key areas of responsibility:

•Write and edit marketing copy
•Proof-read artwork and design proofs for all collateral produced by the marketing design department
•Own the marketing style sheet and tone of voice guidelines
•Write and copy check blog content
•Support other teams including Website, Membership and Events with their copy requirements.
•Write, proof-read and develop content for the Museum’s e-newsletters
•Collate and edit copy for marketing collateral

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree level, or at least to A level or equivalent. They will have demonstrable experience of copywriting for marketing as well as proofing and editing across both online and offline channels, with excellent attention to detail. We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of different stakeholders. They will be highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines, and effectively negotiate diverse organisational needs.
