This post replaces an existing consultant post and is supported by a full time consultant colleague and Speciality Doctor who will share the catchment area.

The post covers both inpatients, currently based at Hairmyres Hospital and provides outpatients and community work within the Clydesdale Resource network and is supported by a fully staffed Community mental health team. For those who are interested in developing rural services, it is an opportunity to join a dynamic, progressive and dedicated community mental health team, and will also suit colleagues who are keen to work part time. The post requires the candidate to be section 22 Approved although training can be given to those colleagues who are eligible. Substantive consultants will also be eligible to teach and train junior colleagues. There is a commitment to being on call and include being part on a call Night Rota as well as being part of a day time senior doctor (Duty AMP Rota) NHS Lanarkshire has always been an ambitious organization aiming to improve the wellbeing of everyone we serve. We have been one of the pioneers in implementing the Patient Safety programme and there are established training and research groups as well as an excellent local teaching programme. Considerable input has gone into modernising the delivery of Adult General Services and there are real opportunities to improve and transform services, and to make a real difference to people with mental health problems in both primary and secondary care.
