We have a number of opportunities for Lecturers from a variety of professional health backgrounds including nursing, midwifery and paramedic practice. We will also consider applications from those not related to these professional health backgrounds but possessing relevant subject expertise. In particular we are looking for expertise in mental health; midwifery; applied social sciences; applied human sciences; community nursing, school nursing, pre hospital and acute care as well as paramedic practice. This is an exciting time in nursing, midwifery and paramedic education where the School is growing in undergraduate and postgraduate student numbers as well as implementing a range of new programmes. With strong partnerships with health and social care providers, the School also demonstrates excellent employability for its graduates as well as upward improvements in student satisfaction and innovation in education. With a degree in a relevant subject (achievement of MSc or PhD or working towards desirable), you will also be expected to contribute to the wider School portfolio which includes undergraduate and postgraduate nurse, midwifery and paramedic education as well as the School's commercialisation activities. There are also opportunities to undertake applied health research in health and social care policy, education and clinical practice which impacts on the health and wellbeing of people, families and communities. These are Monday to Friday roles with 46 days annual leave (including 3 statutory holidays and 7 days closure over Christmas) but we will consider different and flexible contract types to try and help you achieve a work/life balance, such as part-time, job share or term time only working. Whilst we are focussed on educating the next generation of nurses, midwives and paramedics, we also appreciate the need to retain skills in the health profession, so we are equally happy to consider part and full time secondments from your current role. The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic Practice is a vibrant academic community and the main provider of nursing education in the North East of Scotland. The School is housed in a state of the art building designed to simulate both clinical and community settings providing a stimulating learning environment. Our vision is to provide dynamic and transformational learning, teaching and research that makes a leading contribution to improving the health and well-being of local, national and global communities. We aim to engage with key partners to develop, deliver and disseminate high quality research that is of value to society, those using health and social care services, and the professions of nursing and midwifery.
