Job Description

A well-established and supportive Academy Trust in Luton is looking to appoint a new Head of Media Studies for one of its Secondary Academies for this current academic year. The role will be for the entire year and will be to teach Media Studies at KS4 and KS5 of the national curriculum.

Internationally trained teachers are welcome to apply, due to the excellent induction programme for new staff that is in place.

About the Academy

  • A large Secondary School with an attached Sixth Form;
  • Located in the hub of Bedfordshire, just outside the city of Luton;
  • The school has recently been refurbished with state-of-the art facilities across all departments, and will be heading towards opening a Football Academy in partnership with the local professional football team;
  • As part of a wider trust, school staff are well-supported through cross-Academy CPD and a close-knit social community.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Planning and delivering lessons in line with the UK curriculum in Media Studies;
  • Continuous marking and reporting on student progress and achievement;
  • Adhering to relevant procedures for recording, monitoring, analysing, and processing data;
  • Keeping up to date with national developments in curriculum and resources for learning;
  • Departmental budget management;
  • Motivating and supporing department staff (both teaching and support).

To be considered for the role of Head of Media Studies in Luton, all candidates must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Enhanced DBS disclosure;
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK;
  • Relevant experience/recognised qualifications.
