Job Description

In recognition, our Service received the maximum Verification appointment period of 6 years. North Lanarkshire Council's Graduate Apprenticeship in Building Standards is designed for an individual who wants to pursue a career in Building Standards. As an Apprentice you will receive formal training in addition to on the job training to enable you to gain the skills and qualifications needed to drive our Ambition forward. You will be part of the Building Standards team dealing with a broad range of Building Standards functions. Primarily, you will be involved in plan assessment and site inspection activities related to building work under construction including the updating and maintenance of case records. Throughout the period of your training you will gain knowledge and experience in all aspects of Buildings Standards work. You will study at Edinburgh Napier University on a block-release basis, for 4 years, to attain a BSc/BSc (Hons) in Construction & the Built Environment. You will be provided with time off to attend University, study time and you will also be supported by a work based mentor. This is a great opportunity to earn a salary immediately whilst you are studying and there is no cost to you for the training you will receive. Based in Kildonan Street, Coatbridge/Fleming House, Cumbernauld, you will be joining a Service which strives for excellence in service delivery. Your good communication skills and proactive, customer-focussed approach will ensure you provide a professional service to architects, developers and other customers. This post represents an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated individual who is resident in North Lanarkshire, aged 16 years and over with a minimum of 4 Highers graded BBCC including English and Mathematics at National 5 level.
