Job Description

Role Objective(s):

Individuals should have a keen willingness to learn new processes and be willing to participate in all aspects of manufacturing around the business. They should be flexible and demonstrate a level of personal pride in their activities. Documenting and meeting all training milestones.

The role holder must be capable of operating machinery safely once trained, to achieve production and quality targets.  They must also be aware of any problems that may occur and be able to deal with them effectively and efficiently.  Good organisational and communicational skills will also be essential.  Being able to make decisions, be self-motivated and enthusiastic are all pre-requisites of this position. The role holder must be willing to complete an NVQ Level 3 in Print Finishing with Leeds City College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work beside a team of skilled and semi-skilled personnel to ensure that targets/programmes are achieved.  The Operator will regularly discuss with his/her Manager/tutor their performance.
  • Maintain the post print machines and its ancillary equipment in a manner consistent with achieving the above aims and standards.
  • Take a proactive approach to improving workplace safety, reporting hazard observations and implementing preventative measures. Ensuring the reporting of accidents and corrective actions.
  • Liaise and communicate with colleagues, and support functions as required.
  • Follow all documented procedures appropriate to the work area or process with regard to Quality, Health & Safety, Environment & Information Security.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to fulfil the requirements of the manufacturing cell, with the objective of maximising production efficiencies and meeting agreed production and or learning targets.
  • Ensure work is produced at optimum quality for delivery on time, in full, in accordance with customer the requirements, the production plan and internal work instructions/process documentation.
  • Maintain records as required, including shop floor data capture, QC sample retention and general production documentation Training milestones.
  • Conduct operator maintenance, safely and effectively, as required by the appropriate TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) plans.
  • Escalate issues, which cannot be resolved within your team, to a Production leader.
