Commercial Finance Manager NPI (Maternity cover)
Fixed term
The role of the NPI Finance Manager is to ensure the appropriate analysis is provided to enable WE to optimise the Leaf and Wrapping Materials (WMS) components of product cost. The role is a key part of the WECT Transfer Pricing, Product Costing and NPI Finance function and is heavily involved in forecasting the costs associated with New Product Introductions (NPI’s). The role manages a team of two and will work with them, and other stakeholders in BAT, to ensure that all NPI’s are reviewed for financial impact. The role has an important part to play in ensuring that NPI Finance is seen as a key partner in the launch of all NPI’s.
Main responsibilities
  • To provide on-going support to the Head of Product and NPI and their direct reports, driving financial understanding and challenge to operational decisions.
  • To prepare and communicate the appropriate analysis to provide the key insights that the business is expecting from Finance.
  • Provide analysis to allow Operations to challenge individual End Markets and the Regional Commercial team on sub-optimal product design.
  • Work together with Marketing Finance to ensure that all product initiatives deliver bottom line growth to the group.
  • To provide optimal estimated Transfer Pricing to ensure correct decisions are made by the commercial End Markets at the right time.
  • To support the Head of NPI Function to forecast / deliver / explain the impact of NPI in Western Europe.
  • To support the Senior Commercial Finance Manager – TP, PC and NPI in providing analysis and insights into the impact of NPI on Cost of Sales for the Region and End Markets.
  • Relevant experience within manufacturing or FMCG industry
  • Possess excellent influencing and communications skills with ability to interact with all levels of senior management.
  • Experience of managing and developing a team
  • An ability to work effectively with all levels of staff within the Company and externally.
  • A self-starter who can identify options to solve new problems and challenges.
  • An understanding of the cigarette and leaf business and a sound understanding of the key cost / profit drivers that influence it.
  • A good understanding of BAT’s Target Operating Model and standard processes as enabled by TaO
  • Detailed understanding of BAT Product Costing and Transfer pricing processes and policies
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, i.e. SAP/HFM/BI/BPC
  • Business understanding and awareness of all other functions and their interface with finance.
