Clinical Lead – Urgent Primary Care Service (Swansea Bay UHB)

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated and inspirational individual to fulfil a Clinical Lead role in Swansea Bay University Health Board Urgent Primary Care (GPOOH) Service. The Urgent Primary Care Service are looking for experienced clinicians to work as part of the clinical management team to deliver a safe, effective and efficient service. We are looking to recruit two Clinical Leads:

Clinical Lead Urgent Primary Care (Maintaining Standards)

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of performance management strategies in urgent primary care, which are consistent with the principles of Prudent Healthcare and the Health Board’s need for clinical effectiveness flexibility, value for money and high staff engagement. The role will be pivotal to ensuring the effective implementation of clinical governance for the service, including systems of audit and appraisal as well as overseeing a systematic response to complaints and incidents.

Clinical Lead Urgent Primary Care (Service Redesign) 

The post holder will play a key role, along with other members of the Urgent Primary Care Team, in redesigning the urgent primary care service by developing effective working relationships with other relevant services and furthering the development of alternative service models in the interests of prudent healthcare. Central to the role will be working with others to develop the structure and governance of a multi-disciplinary urgent primary care team, to include job planning (where appropriate), workforce planning and recruitment.

Both post holders will need to have proven leadership skills and be well experienced in the provision of urgent primary care in an out of hours setting. They will also possess a thorough working knowledge and understanding of the new Standards and Quality Indicators for 111 and Out of Hours Services in Wales. These roles will adopt the ethos of values based healthcare to make the most effective impact on patient care through transformational change.

Both posts will each be remunerated for two sessions per week at £10,000 per annum per session. Each post will also attract an annual £5,000 responsibility allowance.

The post of Clinical Lead (Maintaining Standards) will be for 3 years renewable for a maximum of a further 3 years, appointed by the Clinical Director Urgent Primary Care.

The post of Clinical Lead (Service Redesign) is for a fixed term period of one year due to funding.
