Summary

This post is based in the Humanitarian, Security and Migration Division (HSMD) and HSMD’s mission is to promote security and stability, build resilience and respond to crises globally including the refugee crisis in Europe and to provide a safe, regular and orderly response to the wider migration challenge. As a Finance Analyst, you will work with the Finance Manager providing oversight, assurance and advice to programme teams to ensure value for money is at the heart of DFID programming and investments.
We are looking for enthusiastic people with excellent finance and analytical skills. Successful applicants should have advanced Excel skills, be good communicators and able to work alongside colleagues across a range of grades and professions. The right person for this role will have a drive to improve systems and processes to ensure that end users receive a quality service. ResponsibilitiesEssential Criteria:
- Experience of working collaboratively with business or programme managers as well as finance staff;
- Has the ability to review and improve the quality and efficiency of service received by end users;
- Has confidence and enthusiasm to present complex financial information to a diverse audience including non-finance colleagues;
- Ability to manage conflicting workloads;
- Can demonstrate strong analytical skills to produce financial analysis, particularly drawing on advanced excel skills to do so;
- Experience in a finance role with similar or related responsibilities is essential.
Desirable Criteria
- It is desirable, but not essential, that applicants hold or are studying towards a qualification with one of the five Consultative Committees of Accounting Bodies [CCAB] i.e. ACCA; CIPFA; ICAEW; ICAI or ICAS, or CIMA, or a European or international equivalent qualification. If you are considering undertaking an accountancy qualification or are currently part qualified, financial support may be available to successful candidates.
