NHBC has a unique opportunity available for an Assistant Technical Officer to join the team based in Milton Keynes. We are offering a salary of £21,475 to £23,861 dependent on experience.
NHBC (National House-Building Council) is a non-profit distributing company and the leading warranty and insurance provider and standard setter for UK house-building for new and newly converted homes. We reinvest all our surpluses in achieving our primary purpose: improving quality in house building to protect homeowners through cover provided by the NHBC Buildmark policy.
Working in the busy House-Building Standards department, you will develop your technical knowledge of house-building techniques whilst providing technical support to NHBC colleagues and house-builder customers.
About the Assistant Technical Officer role:
You will be investigating issues related to House-Building technologies, methods and materials whilst passing information to Technical Officers and other colleagues. You will support colleagues in preparation of technical documents, including but not limited to 'the correct way to build'. You help Technical Officers to prepare articles for publication in Standards Extra, the NHBC technical newsletter.
You will provide responses to technical enquiries from colleagues, house builders, home owners, manufacturers and other construction professionals. Through this contact you will also be expected to promote NHBC's aims of raising house building standards and protecting homeowners.
Our ideal Assistant Technical Officer:
You will have a keen interest in current house-building methods and related technical issues, with the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing as well as first class organisational skills. 'A keen learner who is self-motivated' will describe you accurately.
Some experience of house building/construction with time being spent on site would be an advantage. You will have a relevant qualification or be working towards one. You may also have Graduate membership of an appropriate recognised institution (CIOB/RICS) or be working towards it - support will be offered.
