Aseptic Accountable Pharmacist

Band 8A

£45,446- £51,883 per annum

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Pharmacist to lead our Aseptic team for a six month secondment.

We are looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to take on the role of Accountable Pharmacist within our Aseptic Unit based at University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock- a large district general hospital located in Ayrshire

As “The Accountable Pharmacist” you are required to provide specific expert advice directly to the Director of Pharmacy and the Chief Executive regarding the safety and quality of the aseptic dispensing service. Duties include:

The delivery of a highly specialised pharmacy aseptic dispensing service which prepares a wide range of sterile products for individual patient use, including injectable chemotherapy, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), intravenous infusions, intravenous injections, and intrathecal injections. The provision of this service to all wards and departments within NHS Ayrshire & Arran that receive aseptically prepared products, including a limited domiciliary service when required. The maintenance of a Quality Management System, including review and development of SOPs and documentation The provision of  clinical advice and expertise on aseptic preparation to the wider team An opportunity to represent NHS A&A at a National Level and to contribute to the ongoing work of the National Pharmacy Aseptic Dispensing Programme (NPAD) Participation in Regional work in relation to contingency plans and shared service

A car owner/driver is essential.

Fixed term/secondment for 6 months.

Hours: 37.5 per week.

This post carries a contractual commitment to work on a shift system (which includes a commitment to cover 7 days including weekend and evening). Post-holder will also be required to participate in our Public holiday rotas.
