Summary

If you want to work at the heart of DFID to help shape the medium and long-term financial plans of the Department and support the vital work that DFID does, then this post offers a fantastic opportunity for the right individual. The post sits within the strategic finance team who ensure that resources are allocated to enable the Department to achieve its objectives with the best development outcomes. The function will also lead DFID’s upcoming Spending Review bid and future strategic finance processes. This includes regular liaison across the Department, and with colleagues in HM Treasury and a range of Government Departments.
We are looking for an individual whose financial skills are matched by strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. You will lead and advocate financial planning, and its benefits. ResponsibilitiesEssential Criteria:
- Can analyse, manage and present complex financial information, both verbally and in written form to support decision making.
- Able to lead, manage and develop a team of professional staff; Has practical skills in one or more area of management accounting and cost analysis, investment finance, treasury management, planning and budgeting and financial accounting; Understands different financial planning and budgeting techniques as well as investment appraisal techniques;
- Strong communication skills with experience in engaging with non-technical officials.
- Experience in showing initiative in dealing with complex/difficult issues.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in delivering an end to end budget setting process (including project management;
- Experience in policy delivery;

Memberships

A fully qualified member of one of the five Consultative Committees of Accounting Bodies [CCAB] i.e. ACCA; CIPFA; ICAEW; ICAI or ICAS, or CIMA, or a European or international equivalent qualification.
